Beautiful and well-loved Rina is dying, and both medicine and science have given up on saving her.
But what she fears most is leaving behind her 9-year-old daughter Rani.
Rani however, isn't willing to give up yet.
So she's very much intrigued when the resident Sorcerer and medicine man, Noram Charka, makes a last ditch effort to save his own reputation, and tells the people, “Bring me a bowl of water left behind by a bathing Vulture and I will cure her.”
But it wasn't nearly as simple as it sounded.
“The Vulture must be white, bald, and clutched in its talons should be a live King Cobra, spitting out venom into the water.”
The general populace is of course aghast at this impossible prescription, and rally for the Sorcerer should pay with his life for such callousness.
But Rani believes him.
And her best friend Moy tells her he has seen just such an apparition by the opposite bank of their river.
Assuming she has no time to waste, the two leave immediately, which sets off a chain of events that put Rani's life in mortal danger.
Will Rani survive and return in time to save her mother?
Or will they both be lost to the Sorcerer's desperate attempt at self-preservation?
