The conscious design book came about from me being asked the question "What makes you different from other designers/design firms?" I started by making an infographic, which once I started diving into the details of it, turned into a book a year later. Conscious Design is what I believe the next evolution of "human centered design" should become. It's not enough to just design something that works well for the user physically interactively. Concepts like sustainability, socially responsible, and full supply chain transparency are now the expected norms that should be our minimum requirements when creating a new product, or redesigning an old one. My hope with this book is to help shine a light on what products can be. They should truly improve the human condition on multiple levels and not cause harm to us or the planet. It's completely possible and many companies are making headway toward this future. We compiled many great examples to show that it does pay to be conscious of our environment, society, and still make products that solve people's problems. Let's make a better world together.
