When I read the prototypical fantasy book, there is usually an unlikely hero wielding a mighty talisman, who slays a dark lord 800 pages later. I always wondered what would have happened in those stories afterwards. "Assassins" tells the story of what happens afterwards and how Elves, Dwarves, and Men try to rebuild their societies in the face of new threats to their realms. Unique to "Assassins" is the placement of current geopolitical events within a medieval fantasy world, where realistic approachable characters must overcome unique challenges to survive.
