The champions are heading south for the desert city of Bor’daruk where they hope to find information on the next destiny temple. This is also the home of Kira Grasdon, daughter of a wealthy merchant and the fiancée of Luke Callindor. Her connection to the young warrior makes her the long absent rival of Sari who has taken full advantage of the couple’s open relationship. It is a meeting that is long past due and will see if cultural traditions are stronger than raw emotions.
Although these three might not have enough time to hash out their problems and decide who gets the hapless hero. A vengeful tribe of nomads has declared war on the Grasdon Merchant House by repeatedly sending monsters to devour the family. Now only a handful of Kira’s bloodline remain and every attack claims another. Luke and his friends will struggle to defeat these creatures, but they have a bad feeling that there is more to this than the theft of a mysterious relic. It would be easier to figure out if Nyx and their newest ally, the newly awakened sixth champion, were not lost in the desert.
The appearance of the final champion is an event that changes everything Luke, Nyx, and their friends know about their destiny. Dariana has appeared in passing, but the truth behind her comes out now that she makes her big debut. She is not just a champion. This woman has been part of the game for centuries and holds an unexpected secret. Unlike the other heroes, she is an interesting character to write because she lacks the social experience and comes off as very timid at times. Yet she demonstrates the ability to flip her personality when faced with certain situations. Overall, I think Dariana will bring an entertaining and interesting twist to the storyline as it drives further into the prophecy.
