When life’s difficult situations leave you hanging by your emotional and spiritual fingernails, it’s hard to believe you’re not alone. Powerful and touching stories of women who have lived out their faith highlight the panorama of God’s mercy, grace, provision, and peace.
Author Fran Caffey Sandin wrote her own heart-rending stories. Then she interviewed fifteen admirable women who had exercised faith through their trials. Topics included suicide, homosexuality and AIDS, death of a child, husband’s job loss, handicapped child, adultery, chronic illness, eating disorders, death of a husband, and more.
With their permission, Fran wrote the women’s true stories in first person and followed each with a “Faithlifter” examining the aspect of faith demonstrated in the story. The section “In Her Shoes” connects the reader more intimately with the struggle, “In His Word” gives Biblical affirmation, and “In Your Life” provides practical suggestions for the reader to apply to his own life. These qualities include love, joy, courage, forgiveness, grace, obedience, trust, patience, mercy, commitment, and others. Authentic examples will challenge readers to embrace the healing power of God’s Word and keep touching the clouds.
