Based on true events, my story is not unbelievable, but close. Bear in mind from the beginning that it takes place in 1975 - according to one reviewer, "about the time the Selectric II came out."
The Courts operated differently then: it was said that the prisons were full, so they bailed out identified rapists with impunity. The Evanston PD, back then, was often run by the same rogue cop who had decimated our little family in the first place.
Oh, sure, it's a novel; scenes were embellished, some changed, and one omitted. It took me six years, but I managed to get it all down. I can only tell you how good it feels to have that bizarre, intermittent fear out in the open for good.
