Summer of Betrayal
A special gift to my faithful readers at the low cost of 99 cents on Kindle. Even the Amazon book is set at a lower than usual price for my fiction, $12.95. I hope this appreciation gift will give readers much pleasure. Once again, here is a book set on Cape Cod, a place very dear to my heart.
I grew up on Cape Cod, and know it in all its guises from damp gray winters to foggy springs, to tourist-filled summers, and the most glorious falls anywhere.
Many of my books are set there. Take a look at the first book in my cozy Mystery Series set in Provincetown, A Deadly Snow Fall, and follow through to A Deadly Bean Grind. The other place I love and know well is Nantucket Island, thirty miles offshore from Cape Cod. Check out my India Street cozy mystery series set on that lost- in- time-island affectionately known as the Gray Lady because of its fogs. Book I, India Street: Case of the Killer Scallops. In fact, type my name into Amazon, Cynthia Gallant-Simpson for the full list of my fiction and non-fiction
Summer of Betrayal is about sisters, relationships, love of place, and wrong choices. Primarily, it takes a close look at what can happen when you fail to follow your heart. This love story leads the reader from Cape Cod to Cambridge, MA and Paris however, mostly it leads the reader to wonder about lost chances and decisions made not with the heart but with the head. There are most definitely times when the head is a better decider, however, not when love is the subject. Some dreams can never be recaptured…but perhaps some can.
Diana and Karin Talbot were devoted and loving sisters unfortunately in love with the same man.
Diana met Theo first and fell head over heels in love with him. Theo was older and a successful chef, while Diana was just beginning to find her way, just beginning to figure out the direction of her career as a painter following college. Then, Diana introduced him to her beloved older sister Karin.
The years passed, Theo married Karin, Diana married Oliver, and the four of them spent their summers together in the Talbot family cottage in Truro on Cape Cod. What came to pass was a testament to the strength and durability of true love, and a test of how much one sister is willing to sacrifice for another. The conclusion will both shock and surprise, but also solidify for you the importance of following one's heart and not one's rational mind. Love is not rational. Love is cosmic.
A perfect summer read that reveals everything anyone needs to know about what happens when we fail to follow our hearts.
