I had so much fun writing this particular historical romance. Spent
several weeks researching in and around Jamestown and Williamsburg. What
caught my interest and compelled me to write The Maidenhead was the
following advertisement for willing brides, which I discovered while
researching another historical romance, Mood Indigo: "The Virginia
Company of London seeks one hundred willing maids for marriage to
bachelor planters of James Cittie Colony. Maids must be young, handsome,
and honestly educated." I had originally planned to title the novel, Mad
Dog and Modesty, but the publishers wanted the title, The Savage ~ which
I changed and expanded on the novel to create ~ Ta-tah - The Maidenhead!
