Ginger the Gangster Cat is the story of one cat's overpowering passion for prawns - and for gourmet Spanish cuisine. One day, Ginger sets out to Barcelona - along with his little mate Sparky (the cutest cat in the universe) - to score a whole lorryload of tapas specialities from Tescos supermarket. Along the way, he meets up with the 16 gangster cats who have been pursuing him down all of his nine lifetimes - and he's up to his fat, furry neck in trouble.
'Ginger' came into being when my wife and I lost our little cat Sparky for three whole days. When we found him, trembling in the woods at the bottom of our garden, we began to wonder what would have happened if he HADN'T have been found. Oh yes, he would have been catnapped by a fat, ginger Fagin of the feline world, wouldn't he, and put to work as a pussy Oliver!
Ginger was featured in L. Anne Carrington's 'The Bookshelf' in Nov 2010 and then picked up by a London agent, Carolyn Whitaker, who represented him to several top publishers. He is aimed at children above the age of 8, parents who like reading to them, and cat lovers everywhere.
